Duties & Responsibilities:
• Operate outboard vessel to transport personnel, material, and supplies.
• Perform proper care and maintenance, of various vessel equipment and components.
• Perform deckhand duties associated with a multipurpose vessel.
• Serve as Signal operator for crane operations.
• Serves as assistant / helper to the crane operator.
• Perform carpentry work in constructing, maintaining, and replacing a variety of structures in or around navigable waters.
• Assist with welding, mechanic work, flame cutting, and construction repair and replacement

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD, Section 9905 to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Veterans' preference does not apply to this announcement.

Screen-Out Element: Ability to do the work of a MAINTENANCE WORKER without more than normal supervision. Applicants must meet the screen out element to be considered further. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: perform common maintenance, repairs, and replacements to component parts of MAINTENANCE WORKER.

Incumbent must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Must possess and hold a Transportation Workers Identification Credentials (TWIC)
Must possess and maintain STCW certification (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers) from US Coast Guard.
Incumbent must possess and maintain an Able-Bodied Seaman endorsement from the Coast Guard.
Must be licensed by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to operate motorboat of 26 feet or less within 6 months of appointment to this position.
Incumbent must possess certification as a crane operator within 6 months of appointment to this position.
Incumbent may be required to live aboard vessel assigned. This job assignment is aboard a floating plant assigned to work on various inlets and connecting channels along the Atlantic, Gulf Coasts and Caribbean waters. With limited exceptions, the incumbent is responsible for their own transportation to and from their duty station. Crewmembers are responsible for reporting to their duty station at the scheduled reporting time.
This position requires the incumbent to work rotating Tours of duty; may be 7 days on, 7 days off, 12 hours per day; 8 days on, 6 days off, 10 hours per day or 4 days on, 3 days off, 10 hours per day; 14 days on, 14 days off, 12 hours per day.
This position meets the criteria for random drug and alcohol testing under the Department of Army Drug-Free Workplace Program as supplemented by USACE ER 690-1-1218. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 7412, Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified Safety-Sensitive Under the DOT, Federal Highway Administration Rules on Drug and Alcohol Testing.
This position may require TDY 95% of the time.
Position requires a pre-employment and periodic physical examination and/or evaluation under the District Medical Surveillance Program and may require the use of personal protective clothing or equipment.
Must obtain and maintain a government passport within 6 months of employment.
