Who May Apply: This position is open to CURRENT, PERMANENT USACE EMPLOYEES ONLY. You must be a GS-10 or 11 to qualify. This is a permanent reassignment, not a promotion
Duties:
The primary purpose of this position is the development of designs of varying scope and complexity for civil, military and support for others projects. Incumbent is a non-supervisory employee with the responsibility for assisting planning, design and construction engineers by acquiring, developing, and converting various engineering and technical data and measurements into forms useable by the engineers, through use of computer aided Design and Drafting (CADD) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) techniques. Is considered an authority in the use of and application of electronic data collection and computer aided design and drafting (CADD) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) methods and equipment. Applies a technical knowledge of engineering principles, practices, techniques, and methods and such guides as engineering texts, manuals, and files of design reports, and construction plans and specifications. Projects involve the layout, drafting and detailing of architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical and structural drawings, for such projects as shops, dormitories, classroom buildings, hangars, barracks, administrative facilities, power generating plants, simulator support facilities, instruction facilities, wastewater treatment plants, locks and dams, hydropower plants, flood control, and other various facilities located at military installations, civil works project sites, and other locations. As an engineering technician, works with architects and engineers performing assignments by the application and adaptation of architectural and engineering methods, precedents and the use of practical knowledge and judgment gained through experience and training
