  • Position Overview/Duties:
    • Area of Consideration: This is a job opportunity notice for a permanent position, open to current permanent U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) employees eligible for non-competitive reassignment at the GS-13 level. Eligible applicants must currently hold, or have previously held, a GS-13 position or higher, with experience as described below in Position Duties. Change to lower grade/non-competitive reassignment candidates will also be considered for this opportunity. CHRA will determine candidate qualifications. 

      Specific Duties: 

      1. Advise technical and professional personnel in all phases of architectural design to comply with the latest and applicable regulatory requirements and criteria.
      2. Supervise preparation of architectural designs, including preliminary and final design plans, design analysis and specifications.
      3. Review architectural designs prepared by AE's, ensuring that all interdisciplinary features are well-coordinated.
      4. Manage funds and subordinates to ensure project is completed on time, within budget, and meets scope.
      5. Lead a design review team that ensures design meets all code requirements and owners' intent.
      6. Identify possible discrepancies or errors to subordinate architects or engineers to outline methods and procedures for corrective action.
      7. Manage a design team to complete plans and specifications of vertical buildings for contract advertisement.
      8. Review those facets of design documents in area of expertise, coordinating reviews of other disciplines as appropriate.
      9. Identify developmental training needs of employees and/or taking the appropriate steps to provide training needs of subordinates.
      10. Assign work to and evaluates performance of subordinates.

  • Other Conditions and Requirements:
    • Other Essential Information: 

      • The position requires a current Architect (RA) registration.

      • One-year supervisory probationary period may be required.

      • This position requires you to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE450) upon entry, and annually thereafter.

      Duty station is Camp Zama (Kanagawa), Japan.  

      • Requires 10% Temporary Duty (TDY). 

      • Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances may be authorized, subject to the provisions of the Joint Travel Regulations and an agency determination that a PCS move is in the Government Interest. 

      • Overseas allowances may be authorized in accordance with Department of State Standardized Regulation (DSSR) and DoDI 1400.25 volume 1250. 

      • The initial length of this overseas tour is 36 months at Camp Zama. Return rights to previously held permanent position of record will be authorized. 

      • Relocation incentive may be authorized for eligible candidates based on funding availability.

      • Student Loan Repayment/Advanced Leave Accrual/Separate Maintenance Allowance are not authorized.
