- Position Overview/Duties:
Manages and administers a comprehensive Safety and Occupational Health (S&OH) program for the Honolulu Engineer District. Formulates District policies and provides program direction by issuing regulations, standards, and technical guidance. Manages surveys, evaluations, studies, audits, and accident investigation/reporting. Advises the Commander and staff on safety and occupational health matters. Serves as the District technical authority on S&OH.
The S&OH program must be managed and administered over a vast geographic area having many different cultures, customs, languages and very often without existing safety and health guidelines. The geographic area includes the Hawaiian Islands, Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Palau, American Samoa, Northern Mariana Islands, Johnston Island, Guam, and U.S. Trust Territories throughout the Pacific.
The Honolulu Engineer District is engaged in widely dispersed and diversified activities over a vast geographic area of both the north and south Pacific Ocean. These activities include the construction and maintenance of levees, breakwaters, floodwalls, channel improvements, boat harbors, and shore protection. Military construction of hospitals, medical clinics, water tunnels to 800 vertical feet in depth, ammunition storage, facilities for aircraft, maintenance facilities for aircraft and ground equipment, aircraft runways, roadways and highways, recreational facilities, childcare facilities, major housing projects of single and multi-family units of 250 or more at a time, high rise buildings, research telescope and radar facilities above 10,000 feet elevation. Activities also include hazardous and toxic waste cleanup, unexploded ordinance cleanup, asbestos abatement, power generation systems, water purification systems, sewer water distribution systems, high voltage electrical and communication distribution line systems and contract diving operations.

1. Temporary Duty (TDY) travel is 15% of the time.
2. Must have or obtain and maintain a driver's license in one of the 50 US states or possessions and any installation and/or DoD requirement.
