- Position Overview/Duties:
Major Duties:
- HTRW duties include technical responsibility for the restoration processes beginning with assessment, proceeding through investigation, feasibility study, design phase, and concluding with remediation, or long-term monitoring. Most projects are located within the Southwestern Division. However, Technical Specialists provide expertise on projects outside the Division.- Leads teams or provides technical leadership in area of expertise on the most complicated, local, regional, and nationally significant water resources projects. As a technical specialist, responds to requests for technical advice and assistance from any District team member within the Southwestern Division. Provides authoritative advice and confers with planners and engineers in other organizational units, throughout the Southwestern Division, to resolve conflicts or delays to the timely completion of work.
- Serves as Technical Reviewer or SME for Section/Branch. Ensures compliance with established criteria, sound principles, and standard practices. Provides advice and guidance addressing potential property contamination concerns, site remediation approaches, solid waste minimization (potentially including resource recovery/recycle), and permitting strategies as assigned.
- Serves as mentor for other Staff in Section performing HTRW reviews. Ensure that the organization's strategic plan, mission, vision, and values are communicated to the team and integrated into the team's strategies, goals, objectives, work plans and work products and services.
- Other Conditions and Requirements:
- Position Title: HTRW SME – Serves as the senior Hazardous, Toxic and Radioactive Waste (HTRW) policy, analysis, and compliance subject matter expert (SME) in the Southwestern Regional Planning and Environmental Center (RPEC), Environmental Branch, Environmental Engineering and Science Section.
