  • Position Overview/Duties:
      • Maintaining electrically controlled lock gates, valves, haulage units and other associated equipment required for passage of traffic through the lock structure.

      • Incumbent will assist and gain knowledge in maintaining electrical panels, breakers and other overcurrent devices, transformers, switches and other electrical equipment required to operate a Navigation Lock.

      • Works with a talented team to help prioritize the maintenance of a lock facility and assists the Lock Master in long term repair and maintenance planning for the lock by assisting in developing projects needed to ensure continued effective operations of the locks and dam.

      • Incumbents will participate and help plan safety meetings, participate in developing hazard analysis for each job, supports and helps to motivate employees in required safety methods and practices. Incumbents are expected to work in a team environment and develop skills required to communicate effectively during their tenure.

      • This is a drug testing designated position (TDP) under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program in accordance with AR 600-85. Signing of a DA Form 5019 (Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified as Critical under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program) acknowledging periodic random drug testing requirements is mandatory prior to being placed into this position. Those individuals not currently occupying a TDP position must successfully complete a pre-appointment drug test prior to being placed into this position and periodically thereafter.
      • Incumbent may be required to have an American Red Cross Standard First Aid card, CPR, and/or AED in good standing and/or wear a prescribed uniform based on site specific requirements. Incumbent may also be required to have a valid state drivers license based on job-related, site- specific requirements. Employees are required to observe established safe working procedures. Appropriate protective clothing and/or equipment is provided to minimize or eliminate hazardous conditions, and its use is mandatory. Employee may be required to acquire and maintain appropriate Corps of Engineers equipment operating licenses based on site specific requirements.
      • This position requires the incumbent to lift and carry materials weighing 50 pounds or more and will require a pre-employment physical exam.
      • Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances MAY BE authorized, subject to the provisions of the Joint Travel Regulations and an agency determination that a PCS move is in the Government Interest.

      Qualifications:

      • PROVIDE SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE STATEMENT. One year of specialized experience in equipment maintenance including knowledge of 3-phase 480V electrical systems, motor controls and power distribution systems, electronic controls, heavy-duty machinery, hydraulic, mechanical and electrical interlocking systems.
