This is an internal announcement for a Civil Engineer (Hydraulics), GS-0810-12, in the South Atlantic Division, Jacksonville District, Engineering Division, Water Resources Branch.
Position Title: Civil Engineer (Hydraulics), GS-0810-12
Who May Apply: This position is open to CURRENT, PERMANENT USACE EMPLOYEES ONLY. You must be a GS-11 or GS-12 to qualify.

Duty Location: Jacksonville, FL.

- Current permanent USACE GS-12 will be considered for details at the same grade (up to 6 months) or reassignment.
- Current permanent GS-11 will be considered for temporary promotions not to exceed 120 days.
Position Summary: Project work accomplished in this position include working on some of the most complex Federal projects USACE has to offer which include Miami-Dade County Beach Erosion Control Projects, the Sarasota County Lido Key Hurricane Storm Damage Reduction Project, and the St. Johns County St. Augustine Beach Shore Protection Project. Coastal navigation work includes major U.S. ports like Port Everglades, Miami Harbor, Tampa Harbor, and Jacksonville Harbor.
Duties:
- Provide/compute coastal hydraulic/hydrodynamic engineering input (e.g., water level, wave, tides) for project documents and related modeling (or empirical estimation) tasks, and compile references in the development of design criteria for coastal engineering and related works.
- Identify critical data necessary to initiate analyses that determine coastal/hydraulic engineering design criteria for project features (e.g., hydrographic surveys, historic stage data, As-built drawings, etc.).
- Build, execute, and interpret USACE coastal-planning models (e.g. SBEACH, CSHORE, Beach-fx, G2CRM, etc.) for USACE planning studies.
- Review and perform coastal hydraulic/hydrodynamic investigations including analyses of littoral transport, sediment budgets, inlet hydrodynamics, beach nourishment, and related coastal activities.
- Physically inspect project areas (field investigations) to determine site characterization and necessary features needed to meet project objectives, including assessment of coastal parameters, wave and water current patterns, and other hydraulic/hydrodynamic characteristics.
- Support technical management of projects including development of the scope and work plan for coastal engineering analyses and modeling, including resource needs, budget, and schedule.
- Coordinate work in progress with other USACE Engineering and Planning Division personnel, and collaborate effectively with personnel from other Federal, State, Commonwealth, and local agencies.
