- Position Overview/Duties:
. Serves as a District specialist in all matters pertaining to field surveys, mapping, photogrammetry and related activities. Coordinates all land survey requests to be performed by Construction Branch survey crews including those for other offices within the District, such as (including) Engineering Branch, Real Estate, Operations, and Planning, Environmental and Regulatory Division, where Area Office assistance is available. Responsible for the quality assurance of raw survey data and the processing of the land surveys for use in construction contract plans for the Area Office.
. Schedules, coordinates and manages of all survey needs for the Area Office. Processes of all land survey data required for the production of dredging plans and specifications done by the Area Office. Processes 3D digital terrain modeling and placement area and levee volume calculations as required for the plans and specifications for dredging plans and specifications. Coordinates surveys that requires technical knowledge, tact, diplomacy and sufficient communication skills to assure buy-in of all parties. Exercises considerable initiative and resourcefulness in carrying out assignments to completion.
. Supervises the Land Survey Section in the Northern Area Office, providing direction and preparing yearly TAPES on each employee. Coordinates all land survey work done by the Land Survey Section in the Northern Area Office and tracks and monitors the work of the other survey crews within the Construction Branch.

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD, Section 9905 to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.Specialized Experience for GS-11: 1. Assisting technical review to engineers and guidance to District elements concerning cost, quality and performance. 2. Coordinating survey work and developing approaches to investigate survey performance. 3.
Setting priorities and overseeing work progress as team lead.Specialized Experience for GS-12: One year of experience 1. Providing technical review to engineers and guidance to District elements concerning cost, quality and performance. 2. Coordinating survey work and developing approaches to investigate survey performance. 3. Setting priorities, assigning work to subordinates and overseeing progress.
