- Position Overview/Duties:
Join the F.E. Warren Resident Office as a Project Engineer and play a key role in managing the construction of facilities for the Sentinel Missile Program, a critical initiative for the U.S. Air Force. As part of the Department of Defense’s military construction efforts, the Sentinel Program is vital to national security, and in this role, you will directly contribute to its success. Your duties will involve overseeing the execution and contract administration of construction projects, ensuring they adhere to federal standards while maintaining high levels of quality, safety, and compliance. You’ll work closely with stakeholders, contractors, and engineers to coordinate tasks, resolve challenges as they arise, and ensure projects stay on track and within budget. In this dynamic, mission-focused environment, you’ll be responsible for monitoring progress, upholding quality standards, and providing on-site leadership to the construction teams. This is a unique opportunity to work on a high-impact government project while gaining invaluable experience in the defense sector.
- Works under the general supervision of the Resident Engineer.
Responsible for advising, directing, and/or instructing lower-grade engineers or technicians in the execution of construction activities for a wide range of military construction projects within F.E. Warren AFB and civil projects assigned to the FEW RO. - Construction projects include but are not limited to infrastructure related to military construction (MILCON), civil, mechanical, electrical, secure spaces (ICD 705 requirements) and related components that support the infrastructure. Civil works and Facilities Sustainment, Restoration, and Modernization (FSRM) projects may also be included.
- Applies comprehensive knowledge of engineering methods, techniques, and discipline techniques, costs of materials and practices. It also includes contractor quality construction methods, equipment, and safety assurance program requirements.
- During construction phases, ensures contractor compliance with contract schedules, plans, specifications, and submittals.
- Investigates need for contract change orders; controversies which could lead to formal claims by the contractor; deviations requiring engineering determinations; and other related matters.
- Makes on-the-spot decisions and commitments to avoid delays in construction with respect to minor changes, deviations from schedules, substitution of materials, and resolution of dispute over the acceptability of work.
- During design phase of a project, performs constructability review of project designs and specifications to determine site compatibility and anticipated problems.
- Conducts negotiations with contractors on modification work to establish equitable prices and realistic time allowance for modified and/or additional work.
- Serves as a Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) for projects.
- Contributes to a high performing team to support our nation’s military readiness.
- Works under the general supervision of the Resident Engineer.

Minimum Experience Requirement: Applicants must be at the GS-12 level.
