  • Position Overview/Duties:
    • This opportunity is being announced through the USACE Voluntary Internal Opportunities Program (VIOP). Current, permanent USACE employees with noncompetitive eligibility to be placed in this position are eligible to apply. This Program may only be utilized for non-competitive placements; to include voluntary reassignments, promotions (not-to-exceed 120 days), voluntary changes to lower grade, details, and deployment opportunities.       Duty Location: Assigned to NAP, Philadelphia, PA (With Duty @ Dover Air Force Base, DE)

      Major Duties and Responsibilities:

      Serves as Project Engineer with responsibility for the administration, management, and engineering supervision over construction activities at a number of project sites in a major geographical area. The nature and range of projects include but are not limited to Military Construction (MILCON), Operations and Maintenance (O&M), construction, and/or rehabilitation.

      • This position requires that the incumbent possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
      • Direct deposit of pay is required.
      • Telework Eligible: Yes - as determined by the agency policy.
      • Appointment may be subject to suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
      • The duties of this position require travel up to approximately 25% of the time.
      • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
      • The position requires an initial 40 hour and an annual 8 hour OSHA training course of Hazardous Toxic and Radiological Waste (HTRW).
      • Current incumbents (as of June 2005) must demonstrate progress toward obtaining a COR.
      • Physical Hardship or Hazardous Working Conditions:
      • Performance of duties may entail working in close proximity to various toxic chemical materials, where a possibility of leakage or spillage exists. Protective clothing and devices are required. The above working conditions were not considered in the evaluation on the job. Compensation for physical hardship or hazardous working condition will be in accordance with FPM Supplement 990-1, Book III.
      • A trial or probationary period may be required.
