  • Position Overview/Duties:
    • This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) announcement for multiple Interdisciplinary (Project Engineers) in the South Atlantic Division, Savannah District, Construction Division.

      Position Title: Interdisciplinary (Project Engineer)

      Series/Grade: GS-08XX-12, (0808 Architecture, 0810 Civil Engineering, 0830 Mechanical Engineering, 0850 Electrical Engineering)

      Duty Location(s): Fort Stewart or Fort Benning, GA.

      Duties & Responsibilities:

      As the Project Engineer, you are responsible for overseeing the construction operations of assigned projects, which include civil, mechanical, electrical, and architectural components. Your role involves on-site engineering, contract administration, and ensuring quality assurance throughout the project. You provide surveillance over the prime contractor and subcontractors, monitor their activities, and ensure adherence to construction schedules and quality control procedures. Additionally, you maintain communication with both the using agency and contractor representatives, addressing matters related to safety, regulations, utility outages, and overall project progress.

    • This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD, Section 9905 to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

      Minimum Education Requirement:

      Engineering: Bachelor's degree (or higher) in engineering. The program must: lead to a degree in a school with at least one program accredited by ABET. Degree must be documented on a transcript.

      Architecture: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study or specific course requirements.

      Specialized Experience:

      Experienced Project Engineer skilled in managing multidisciplinary construction projects—civil, mechanical, electrical, and architectural. Proven success in handling change orders, ensuring EM 385-1-1 safety compliance, and coordinating with stakeholders to deliver on time and within budget. Adept at applying engineering principles to solve complex construction challenges.

      Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

      Other Requirements:

      • This position requires that the incumbent possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or its possessions to operate vehicles.
