Position Overview/Duties

Serves as Chief, of the Hydraulics and Technical Services (HTS) Branch for the District. Responsible for hydrologic and general hydraulic engineering studies and water management activities for the Arkansas, Red River and White River Basins. This includes the state of Arkansas, and parts of, Missouri. Directs and coordinates the observation, collection, analysis, and presentation of hydraulic and hydrologic data for specific application and evaluation in the justification, design, and operation of, large multiple-purpose dams, navigation locks and channels, levees, channel improvements, and bank stabilization structures. Also supervises the district surveying function, GIS and the E&C Division funds management. Directs HTS efforts for the district and is the principal advisor to the Chief of Engineering and Construction for these efforts.

Applicant Qualifications: Nominees will be selected based on the following qualifications.

  • Experience in managing, hydraulic and hydrologic engineering studies for pre-authorization, pre-construction and operational planning of projects and their effects in the District.

  • Experience in leading a large organization through subordinate leaders.

  • Experience in managing flow regulation and storage utilization in all projects under construction or in operation for flood control, hydropower generation, navigation, water supply, water quality control, recreation, fish and wildlife, and other purposes.

  • Experience in developing, executing, and evaluating existing and future programs; manages budget, manpower, and space requirements; evaluates organizational efficiency; and recommending changes to higher authority.

    • Professional Engineer: The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess and maintain license/registration as a Professional Engineer. This license/registration must be in good standing and issued by any one of the 50 states or its territories
