Position Overview/Duties
This is an internal announcement for Deputy DPM, GS-040-14, in the South Atlantic Division, Charleston District, Programs, Planning and Project Management Division.
Position Title: Deputy DPM (Program Manager)
Who May Apply: This position is open to CURRENT, PERMANENT USACE EMPLOYEES ONLY. You must be a GS-14 to qualify.
Open Period: 14–27 January 2026
Duty Location: Charleston, SC.
- Interested candidates should provide their resume in TMP and be prepared to provide current SF-50 and first and second level supervisor endorsement upon request.
- Current permanent USACE GS-14 will be considered for details (up to 6 months) or reassignment pending at the same grade.
Position Overview and Duties:
The Deputy DPM works directly under the administrative direction of the Deputy District Engineer for Programs, Planning, and Project Management (DPM). The incumbent will share responsibility with the DPM for planning and execution of all phases of programs and projects. This includes assignment, supervision, coordination, and review of all work within the Division. The position involves significant independent authority for managing programmatic and project schedules and budgets. The incumbent will be expected to act on behalf of the DPM, serving as the primary point of contact for major programs including civil works, military, military, international, and interagency support (IIS) programs. The incumbent may be expected to oversee training, conduct hiring actions, and oversee District contract execution.

This opportunity is being announced through the USACE Voluntary Internal Opportunities Program (VIOP). - This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 15% of the time.
- PCS may be authorized.
- Relocation incentive may be authorized. Before the payment of a Relocation Incentive, an employee must provide residence documentation and maintain a residence in the new geographic location for the duration of the service agreement.
- This position requires that the incumbent possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or its possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position may be eligible for situational telework.
