      Position Duties

    •  

    • As a Construction Control Representative, the incumbent is responsible for implementing the government’s Quality Assurance Program and monitoring the contractor’s quality control and inspection program for assigned dredging and marine construction projects. Serves as Senior Construction Control Inspector for maintenance/new work construction, dredging, disposal area maintenance, construction and operation, construction of bank stabilization, beach nourishment, fresh water control structures and a variety of other marine construction projects. Prepares Quality Assurance Reports for assigned projects.

Reviews plans and specifications for upcoming projects and provides input for inclusion into the solicitation. 

Consults with contractors, subcontractor's and other key personnel on problems relating to construction and installation of equipment. Requires considerable coordination with contractor personnel by personal surveillance at work site assures that progress is being maintained and the dredging and installation of marine construction is in accordance with the awarded plans and specifications for existing contracts.

Acts as technical advisor for assigned projects. 

Resolves problems that involve conflict between the plans and specifications and the actual dredging or installation of various systems within a marine construction project.

Reviews technical data and furnishes information for progress reports, prepares data for processing of pay estimates such as quantity of materials or equipment installations included in construction and percentages of work completed.

Reviews contractor’s construction schedules and shop drawings and recommends approval/disapproval actions.

Consults with contractors and key district personnel on environmental issues that arise. 

Responsible for inspecting work areas to ensure that contractor is complying with both the Corps of Engineer's Safety Requirements and the contractor's Accident Prevention plan; for calling unsafe conditions and practices to attention of contractor representative; and for noting corrections taken on daily reports or forms provided.
