Position Overview/Duties

Responsibilities/Duties:
- Serves as the natural resource management staff specialist for a major water resource project(s) performing a variety of assignments involving all aspects of project operations to include natural resources, recreation, and dam safety.
- Participates in the development of various planning documents, including Master Plans and Operational Management Plans (OMP), for management of natural and park resources.
- Participates in conservation, preservation, restoration and use of project natural and cultural resources.
- Participates in all aspects of recreation management at the project.
- Enforces Title 36 CFR by educating the visiting public on project purposes, conditions, policies and regulations. Patrols project lands and waters to prevent unauthorized use, trespass, destruction of property, and to ensure compliance with rules and regulations; and protection of project land, water, facilities and other environmental and cultural resources.
- Investigates violations, issues citations, and testifies in court
- Conducts public relations services for the general public and for special groups.
- Develops and coordinates the project volunteer program.
- Assists with the project’s environmental compliance program.
- Assists with management of the water resource project as it pertains to the dam and appurtenant structures in conjunction with daily duties.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Education Requirement for 0401 Series:
Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as described above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Other Conditions and Requirements
Conditions of Employment:
- The employee may be required to wear the Corps’ authorized uniform in the performance of duties as prescribed by AR 670-10 and supplements.
- Incumbent may be required to receive a minimum of 24 hours of personal protection/unarmed self defense, situational evaluation and tactical communication training within two years of employment.
- Incumbent may be required to possess or be able to acquire first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and blood-borne pathogen training.
- Work nights and weekends.
- Possess or ability to acquire a state driver’s license and COE boat operator license.
- Occasional overnight travel.
- TDY is required up to 10% of the time.
- Covered under the DA/USACE Random Drug Testing program based upon operations of a surface vessel and operation of dam/flood control gates (USACE Specific Criterion).
PCS/Incentives
- Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances may be authorized, subject to the provisions of the Joint Travel Regulations and an agency determination that a PCS move is in the Government Interest.
- Incentives may be authorized for highly qualified candidates.
