Position Overview/Duties
Responsibilities/Duties:
• Leads and train a team of Data Scientists. Provides advice and guidance concerning policies, work methods, and milestones for analytical problem-solving methods.
• Ensures the command’s strategic plan, mission, vision, and values are communicated to the team and integrated into the team’s strategies, goals, objectives, workplans and work products.
• Analyzes complex data elements and systems, data flows, dependencies and relationships to develop and recommend new methodologies.
• Develops processes to manage data sets and identifies ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality.
• Extracts relevant information from historical datasets; identifies, creates, and employs the appropriate statistical, algorithmic, mining, forecasting, predictive, and visualization techniques; evaluates information in relation to its impact on decision-making.
• Assesses data sources to determine types of data available and how to import data into systems and models to reduce or eliminate manual reporting and/or processing requirements.
• Prepares presentations, writes reports, builds data analytics and visualization products for data-driven solutions and decision making.

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD, Section 9905 to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duty Location: U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville, 300 Secured Gateway, Redstone Arsenal, AL 35808. Remote work may be authorized for this position.

Minimum Experience Requirement: Specialized Experience: Leading teams of people, projects and processes using data science and analytics. Technical expert and application of data science techniques. Utilizes tools such as Microsoft Power Automate, Power BI, Tableau, Python, Structured Query Language (SQL), SAS, Oracle, programming skills, machine learning methods, data architecture, data visualization, modeling and simulations, and business and resource analysis.
