Position Overview/Duties

Functions as the Chief, Public Affairs Office. This position includes responsibility for planning, organizing, and directing the district program to disseminate information relating to the Corps programs, objectives, and functions through the news media, organizations, and direct contact with the public. Acts as primary consultant to District Commander and executive staff, senior staff chiefs and other district staff, and public affairs staff in the district office on public affairs matters. Functions as the District Communication Manager and communication subject matter expert for the Engineer District. Exercises direct operational control and supervision over the district public affairs program, and interfaces with the other district public affairs programs in the division as well as the division’s Public Affairs Community of Practice.

Serves as Chief, Public Affairs Office for the District in order to proactively deliver the Commander's message and work as an integral member of the USACE public affairs team. Is responsible for planning, organizing, synchronizing, directing and controlling all public affairs activities and programs for the District's area of responsibility.

Serves as Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist for the District for internal and external corporate communications. Is responsible for developing, executing, and integrating communications programs and campaigns that leverage all available communications conduits and emerging technologies to most-effectively communicate the District’s mission, programs, and policies.

Plans, directs, executes, coordinates, and provides staff supervision over the public affairs program.
