Position Overview/Duties

Serves as Chief, Architectural/Master Planning Section of the Design Branch, responsible for the technical and administrative supervision of architects and structural engineers. Plans, directs, manages and oversees the technical policies, standards and criteria of architecture and structural engineering activities within the Far East District (FED). Programs include the following in the Republic of Korea (ROK): military, non-appropriated, dependent schools, medical, family housing and host nation funded construction for the Army, Air Force, Navy/Marines; and those of other Federal agencies.  Directs and manages the formulation and establishment of technical policies, guidance and instructions in architecture for district-wide application. Plans, directs, and manages the architectural/master planning elements of FED's in-house design; the design review and quality assurance of both in-house and Architect-Engineer contracted work; and providing technical support to all field operating elements. Directs and is responsible for the coordination and integration of the architectural and structural engineering staff activities with other engineering disciplines. Exercises supervisory control over assigned staff of approximately 10 architects and structural engineers in the section.

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD, Section 9905 to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

This position is considered essential to support the Army's mobilization and wartime mission during periods of increasing tension or mobilization.

Minimum Experience Requirement:   Requires Professional License (Architect License).

  • The incumbent is required to file an OGE Form 450, Financial Disclosure Report upon entering on duty in this position and annually thereafter.
  • This position requires that the incumbent possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.

  • Relocation (PCS) expenses may be authorized (subject to available budget) if the selecting official determines the relocation is in the best interests of the government.
