Position Overview/Duties

This is an internal announcement for a Civil Engineer, GS-0810-12, in the South Atlantic Division, Mobile District, Engineering Division.

Position Title: Civil Engineer

Who May Apply: This position is open to CURRENT, PERMANENT USACE EMPLOYEES ONLY. You must be a GS-12 to qualify.

Duty Location: Mobile, AL.

  • Current permanent USACE GS-12 will be considered for reassignment at the same grade.

Duties:

Serves as a civil engineer specialist in pavement and site design on the staff of a design organization responsible for planning, and design of new and/or extension, conversion, or modernization of existing buildings, facilities sites/complexes, and airfield pavements. Attends conferences with division and regional representatives and various design agencies of the Air Force, Army and National Guard; coordinates and consults with other planning and design activities in connection with scope and design of paving and site projects and in obtaining necessary and current design criteria. Assignments involve performance of office and field design duties associated with in house design and architectural/engineering review on project sites with diverse climatic, geographic, and environmental conditions that involves new pavements (airfields, highways, streets, parking lots), building sites/complexes earthwork grading, erosion control, storm water, and storm water quality/management designs. Applies the latest design and construction techniques to all type project sites. Full range of duties concerned with the planning, design, contract document preparation using state of the art software systems (CADD, AutoCaDD C3D, PondPack), renovation, and construction of sites/complexes such as airfields, dormitories, office buildings, training facilities, warehouses, maintenance facilities and other specialized buildings.

  • This position requires the incumbent to possess and maintain license/registration as a Professional Engineer in good standing.
  • This position requires the Contracting Officer Representative Certification to be obtained within 24 months of appointment.
  • The incumbent is required to file an OGE Form 450, Financial Disclosure Report upon entering on duty in this position and annually thereafter.
  • PCS may be authorized.
  • Relocation incentive may be authorized. Before the payment of a Relocation Incentive, an employee must provide residence documentation and maintain a residence in the new geographic location for the duration of the service agreement.
  • This position requires that the incumbent possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or its possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position may be eligible for situational telework.
