Position Overview/Duties
Area of Consideration: This is a job opportunity notice for a permanent position, open to current permanent U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) employees eligible for non- competitive reassignment at the GS-12 level. Eligible applicants must currently hold, or have previously held, a GS-12 position or higher, with the same responsibilities as described above in Specific Duties section. Change to lower grade/non-competitive reassignment candidates will also be considered for this opportunity.
Summary of Responsibilities: Serves as an Information System Security Officer (ISSO). Their main duties include implementing and managing security policies, ensuring compliance with regulations, documenting security features, and monitoring systems for vulnerabilities. This involves a mix of technical, administrative, and managerial tasks, such as creating security plans, coordinating assessments, and advising senior leadership on the organization's security posture.
Specific Duties:
- Serves as technical expert, source of expertise, and focal point within a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) District concerning IT security/information assurance.
- Assists information assurance vulnerability alerts, bulletins, and technical tips received from Enterprise Service Desk, USACE CIO/G6, ARCYBER, and USCYBER.
- Reviews design and installation requests for compliance with information systems security.
- Must be well versed in the eMASS and RMF process. Maintain a District accreditation inventory for the organization’s systems. Ensure that accreditations are understood and completed for all systems and sites.
- Possess DOD 8140 industrial credentials of a IAM Level III (CISSP, CISM, or GLSC).
- Secret clearance is required.

• Requires 15% Temporary Duty (TDY).
• Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances may be authorized, subject to the provisions of the Joint Travel Regulations and an agency determination that a PCS move is in the Government Interest.
• Overseas allowances may be authorized in accordance with Department of State Standardized Regulation (DSSR) and DoDI 1400.25 volume 1250.
• Relocation incentive may be authorized.
• The initial length of this overseas tour is 36 months.
• All positions require the applicant to be a citizen of the United States.
• Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, are required to register for Selective Service prior to appointment.
• Direct deposit of pay is required.
