Position Overview/Duties

Performs technical engineering, preliminary and final design, layout, and specifications for a variety of complex flood control, environmental restoration and other civil works projects. Coordinates with representatives of other elements and organizations participating in the design of the project, resolving conflicts and/or differences when they occur.

Duties

  • Incumbent must be experienced in operation of and have a good working knowledge of the features and capabilities of the Bentley MicroStation Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) system.
  • Furnishes continuing technical guidance to lower graded technicians and advises engineers on a variety of technical matters such as overall geometry of the projects and various details which must be incorporated into the design.
  • Independently prepares design details, layouts and plans and specifications for all engineering features of civil works projects.
  • Develops preliminary and final design features of civil works projects using the full complement of Bentley MicroStation CADD system.
  • The incumbent is an expert on sequencing and laying out of the plan of action and schedule of events for design and construction of complete civil works projects or major components of large civil works projects of considerable complexity.

 

Other Conditions and Requirements

  • An adjusted Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) rate of 2.63% to base salary is authorized if located in Puerto Rico.

 

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

 

  • Temporary duty travel is 10% of the time.
