Position Overview/Duties

The primary purpose of this position is to conduct medical history interviews for 5-10 (per day) federal civilian employees mobilizing in support of overseas contingencies; military personnel on special orders; securing health and development history of military personnel, contractors and civilians from past medical records; and Pre and Post Deployment Health Assessment per following situations:

Mobilization/Deployment: Reviews past medical records and Pre Deployment Health Assessment (DD 2795). Identifies medical/behavioral health issues which potentially affect deployability and retention. Screens military personnel and civilians for potential adverse reactions to immunizations, specifically smallpox and anthrax and solicits consultations with appropriate specialists when indicated. Refers soldiers/civilians who have medical issues to appropriate departments for further diagnosis and treatment. Makes recommendations for civilians who have medical issues to coordinate diagnostics off post. Determines military personnel and civilians who do not meet Department of the Army deployment standards. Coordinates requests for medical waivers for deployment with the COCOM Surgeon in coordination with the CONUS REPLACEMENT CENTER medical staff. Makes recommendations for further testing to ensure deployability in accordance with COCOM medical requirements for the AOR as pertinent to individual deployment. Reviews COCOM medical standards and when changes occur, publishes new a document outlining new requirements to leadership downrange.

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD, Section 9905 to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Minimum Education Requirement: Graduate of a professional nursing program accredited by the ACEN or CCNE.

Licensure: Active, current, full and unrestricted license as a registered nurse in a US State, Territory or the District of Columbia


Minimum Experience Requirement: Requires at least one or more full years of professional nursing experience that is equivalent to the next lower grade level.
