Position Overview/Duties

This is an internal announcement for an Interdisciplinary (Project Engineer) in the South Atlantic Division, Jacksonville District, Construction Division.

Position Title: Interdisciplinary (Project Engineer)

Who May Apply: This position is only open to CURRENT, PERMANENT USACE EMPLOYEES. You must be a GS-11 to qualify.

Open Period: 30 March-9 April 2026

Duty Location: West Palm Beach or Port St. Lucie, FL.

  • Current permanent USACE GS-11 will be considered for reassignment at the same grade.

Position Overview:

Serves as a Project Engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, Construction Division providing contract administration and quality assurance for heavy civil construction contracts including major earthworks, structure foundations, large water control structures, and concrete.

Duties:

  • Work within an interdisciplinary team of Corps of Engineers team members to provide contract administration and oversight of assigned construction contracts.
  • Review existing and projected construction contracts, plans, and specifications from the standpoint of anticipating and making recommendations to improve quality and facilitate effective administration.
  • Review technical documents including submittals, shop drawings and, test data for quality and conformance to the plans and specifications.
  • Develop preliminary findings on specifications, estimates, and recommendations for contract change orders and supplemental agreements involving additions and changes in work, designs, methods, materials, equipment, time, and costs.
  • Work with other Corps of Engineers team members, engineers, and construction contractors to ensure requisite quality control is maintained, work is performed in accordance with contract provisions.
  • Conduct field inspections to ensure construction features, materials and methods conform with plans and specifications and construction activities comply with safety requirements (EM 385-1-1).
  • Work with customers/sponsors/outside agencies to promote favorable and effective working relations and ensure adequate construction progress is maintained.
  • Write technical reports to ensure adequate documentation of construction is maintained.
