Position Overview/Duties

This is a Supervisory Engineer position, GS-08XX-13, for the South Atlantic Division, Savannah District, Construction Division located at Fort Benning, GA.

Area of Consideration: This is an internal reassignment in the grade of GS-13. Selection may not result in promotion or conversion to a new appointment.

Responsibilities/Duties:
 
As the Supervisory Engineer, you are responsible for overseeing the construction operations of assigned projects, which include civil, mechanical, electrical, and architectural components. Is expected to initiate action to begin work and maintain schedules using means available. On questions or problems in connection with the construction, the incumbent is expected to resolve those within his/her authority to settle; on those reserved to others, recommends solutions. Overall review of the work of the incumbent is made by review of reports and correspondence, conferences with officials visiting the project concerning features of the work, inspection of completed structures, and overall results obtained from contractors and government employees.

Minimum Education Requirement/Requirement:

Engineering: Bachelor's degree (or higher) in engineering. The program must: lead to a degree in a school with at least one program accredited by ABET. Degree must be documented on a transcript.

Architecture: Bachelor's degree (or higher) in architecture or related field.

Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.

  • All positions require the applicant to be a citizen of the United States.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, are required to register for Selective Service prior to appointment.
  • Direct deposit of pay is required.
  • Professional Engineer or Professional Architect Registration is Required.
  • Foundational Career Level Certification or Contracting Professional Certification must be met within 2 years.
  • This position requires the incumbent to serve a 1-year supervisory probationary period, if not already served.
  • Incumbent is required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450, (5CFR Part 2634, Subpart I USOGE, 6/08). Executive Branch Personnel Confidential Financial Disclosure Report upon entering the position and annually, in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R, Joint Ethics Regulation, dated 17-Nov-2011.
  • This position may have a 15% Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement.
  • PCS may be authorized.
  • Relocation incentive may be authorized. Before the payment of a Relocation Incentive, an employee must provide residence documentation and maintain a residence in the new geographic location for the duration of the service agreement.
  • This position requires that the incumbent possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate a vehicle.
  • This position may be eligible for situational telework.
