Position Overview/Duties

This is two (2) Electrical Engineer positions, GS-0850-12, for the South Atlantic Division, Savannah District, Construction Division located at Savannah, GA.

Area of Consideration: This is an internal reassignment to the grade of GS-12. Selection may not result in promotion or conversion to a new appointment.

Responsibilities/Duties:

As the Electrical Engineer, you are responsible for reviewing, inspecting, and testing electrical systems and equipment installed in both military and civil projects. The incumbent oversees all types and phases of electrical and construction operations. In collaboration with the supervisor, they assist in planning and scheduling field construction activities, providing recommendations for grading methods and problem-solving solutions based on their in-depth knowledge of the work and field conditions. The engineer also consults with contractor representatives and the supervisor on major, complex, or technical issues. Additionally, they keep the supervisor updated on field developments and the status of work at various stages, offering special advice on progress concerning specific aspects of the construction.

Minimum Education Requirement/Requirement:

Completion of a Bachelor's degree (or higher) in engineering. The program must: lead to a degree in a school with at least one program accredited by ABET. Degree must be documented on a transcript.

Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.

  • This position may have a 15% Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement.

  • This position requires that the incumbent possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate a vehicle.
