Position Overview/Duties
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) announcement for a Supervisory Accounting Technician in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Finance Center, Military Reports Division.
Position Title: Supervisory Accounting Technician
Open Period: 20-30 April 2026
Duty Location: Millington, TN.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Serves as a Supervisory Accounting Technician responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating (e.g. CEFMS II Data Manager), carrying out, and analyzing accounts associated with mission projects requiring reconstruction and/or reconciliation in the Corps of Engineers Financial Management System II (CEFMS) and other automated programs at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Finance Center.
You will perform as a Supervisory Accounting Technician responsible for complex accounting and fund distribution operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, system integrity, accurate financial reporting, and full accountability for personnel management, internal controls, EEO, and safety programs.
Duties:
- Exercise full supervision and management authority for long-range planning, goal setting and the evaluation of subordinate staff.
- Plan, organize, direct, coordinate and review the work involved in carrying out the mission and function of the unit.
- Manage the planning, organizing and directing of a variety of accounting oriented technical support through the analysis and evaluation of accounting data, such as Treasury Department codes, appropriation basic symbols, limitations, and AMSCOs.
- Provide accountability of all accounting assignments for a wide variety of Treasury Appropriations requiring extensive knowledge and experience in reviews.
- Verify the accuracy, completeness and validity of a wide variety of accounting transactions in accordance with the Corps of Engineers Financial Management System II (CEFMS).
- Analyze financial data and regulations such as the Treasury Financial Manual, Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) 37-100 and 7097 manuals.
- Establish and update procedures for the maintenance of accounting documents and files.

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD, Section 9905 to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS:
Basic Requirement for 0525 series:
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Managing a variety of accounting oriented technical support through analysis / evaluation of accounting data; (2) Initiating corrective action regarding financial discrepancies, variances, or abnormal conditions to prevent similar discrepancies in the future; (3) Developing operational internal processes and technical and automated system controls; and/or (4) Supervising and managing human resources. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08).
