Position Overview/Duties

About: Serve as a Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Specialist responsible for planning and managing a comprehensive SOH program to eliminate or control the risk of injury to personnel assigned to The Dalles Lock and Dam.

Key Duties include:

  • Enforces safety and occupational health principles, methods, and techniques which includes understanding OSHA requirements.
  • Conduct surveys to identify hazards and to evaluate and recommend abatement procedures.
  • Investigate mishaps involving personnel or damage to machinery, tools, materials, or equipment.
  • Address any near misses, injuries, or accidents and brief the Operations Project Manager.
  • Evaluate, procure, and distribute accident prevention materials and provide training.

    This opportunity is being announced through the USACE Voluntary Internal Opportunities Program (VIOP).     • This position requires that the incumbent possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states.

    • Relocation expenses may be authorized (subject to available budget) if the selecting official determines the relocation is in the best interests of the government.
