Position Overview/Duties

Serves as a senior Electrical Engineer, responsible for developing electrical designs performing technical reviews of electrical designs developed by Architectural-Engineering firms (A-E) and resolving electrical design related problems arising during construction. Provides electrical expertise for a wide range of design projects containing the most diverse, complex, and/or unconventional electrical and electronic features for projects in the District's Military (which includes, but not limited to, military construction, sustainment, restoration, modification, energy resilience conservation investment program (including power generation, electrical transmission, solar power, and wind turbines) products), Civil Works (which includes, but not limited to, dams (including hydropower), levees, utility relocations (including power generation facilities, electrical transmission lines, 
water/sewer lines, road realignments, etc.), Work for Others (WFO), and Hazardous and Toxic Radiological Waste (HTRW) Programs, which encompass four (4) western states, and in addition, for Civil Works projects, in parts of three (3) other states. Applies deep and diversified professional knowledge of Electrical Engineering theory, principles, and practices related to the layout and design of electrical systems and equipment. Projects typically have complex electrical and/or electronic requirements/features and include, but are not limited to unique, complex, or one of a kind Military facilities; specialized instructional facilities; medical and dental facilities, including clinics and hospitals; and multistory administrative buildings. Assigned projects may contain complex electrical requirements/features (e.g., intrusion detection systems with computer interfaces, radio frequency shielding, complex fire alarm and suppression systems with multiple intertied electrical and mechanical interfaces, complex overhead and underground exterior electrical and lighting systems, pecial grounding systems, integrated energy monitoring and control systems, emergency generator systems, high voltage power distribution systems, lightning and static electricity protection systems, and state-of-the-art telecommunications systems.

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD, Section 9905 to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
